Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is an integral part of Tunacor’s culture.  As a responsible corporation and leader in the Namibian fishing industry, we have over the years ensured that the country’s fish resources are turned into wealth that touches the lives of many Namibians across the country.
Tunacor is committed to perform with the highest standards of partnerships between all its  stakeholders, including government, communities and trusts in order to uplift the socio-economic status of our people and institutions We consider these to be crucial precondition for the desired social and economic transformation of our country.
This includes our focus on developing the necessary infrastructure of the rural areas to accelerate economic growth and job creation with the aim of progressing our marginalised communities out of poverty and into more sustainable livelihoods.

Education

Education is one of the important aspects in the development of any society, therefore Tunacor recognises the critical role that education plays in the transformation of Namibia as it participates and becomes increasingly competitive in the global economy.

Areas of support includes the following:
  • Infrastructure development in marginaliszed communities which we believe will empower these communities to engage in improving education opportunities

  • Supporting community skill development centers with the aim to make technical, vocational education and training strategies more accessible to all.

  • Widen access to higher and tertiary education with special preference to students from rural areas and marginalised groups

  • Supporting Namibian school feeding programs in various regions

Economic Empowerment Of Marginalised Communities

  • Socio economic upliftment of traditional authorities and marginalised communities

  • Strengthen financial self-sufficiency opportunities in underserved communities with special reference to the Industrialisation Upgrading Modernisation Programme (IUMP)

  • Community awareness programs aligned to governmental objectives

  • Cultural Initiatives contributing to the development of the rural population.

Youth  Enterprise and Sport Development

  • Improving sport infrastructure facilities to enable wider access in sporting activity in both rural and urban areas

  • Training equipment and sports gear for local and national teams

  • Assisting the regulatory body in its effort to successfully develop the youth enterprise industry

Primary Health  Care and Nutrition

To increase investment in the health sector and to assist in the nurturing of a healthy and productive labour force. 
  • Assist with the acceleration of health infrastructure development and improved accessibility of health care to disadvantaged communities.

  • Strengthen health facilities as well as community-based health care interventions and services to improve the overall services delivery and improve sanitation

  • Support Government’s food and nutrition programmes
